Class of 2027

Hey everyone! My name is Alex and I'm from New York City where I've lived my entire life. In my free time I enjoy reading, listening to music, coding, playing piano, and hanging with friends. At MIT, I plan to major in Computer Science (Course 6). I’m also looking forward to exploring my other interests like language learning. I’m excited for the next four years and making memories in the CC brotherhood.

Alex Wu | New York City, NY

Hey! My name is George Obongo and I am from Germantown, Maryland. As of now, I intend on majoring in course 20 (Biological Engineering) on the premed track. Although my academic interests reside within the biological sciences, I hope to branch out and explore more humanities-based subjects like philosophy and anthropology. In my free time, you can most likely catch me deep diving through conspiracy theory rabbit holes or sporadically scrolling through Zillow looking for my dream home. I may not have the answers to solve the world’s current problems, but I can definitely find a house that matches your personality. Whether it is a study session or a spontaneous adventure, I am always down for a new experience and am more than willing to join.

George Obongo | Germantown, Maryland

Hi, I’m Isaac. I’m from Newton, MA which is a few miles from campus. I’m plan to major in course 6-2 (EE+CS), and also hope to get involved with entrepreneurship at MIT. I’m big into volleyball, cooking/baking, and fashion. In terms of music, I mostly listen hip-hop, r&b, reggae, afrobeats, jazz and some indie.

Isaac Kiniti | Newton, MA

Yo, my name’s Jon. I’m from Upper Darby, PA (right outside of Philly for reference). I’m going to be taking course 6-4 at MIT and hopefully passing my classes. I like hitting the gym and playing basketball for fun. My favorite genre of music is rap, and I like artists like Joey Bada$$, Frank Ocean, MF DOOM, Ken Carson, Clairo, and Kendrick Lamar.

Jon Ebataleye | Upper Darby, PA

Hey everyone my name is Mohammed Yassen (preferably Yassen). I'm a recent graduate of Bunker Hill Community College, and am an incoming mechanical engineering transfer student to MIT. I’m a Sudanese international student who grew up in Bangkok and chose to come to the states to cultivate my engineering skills. I love talking about history, technology and interesting topics in physics. I also love listening to different types of hip-hop from MF DOOM to Blue and exile to black thought and lupe fiasco. I’m teaching myself the piano, getting back to the gym and seeking life experiences that make life richer. Currently I’m looking to improve the efficiency of photovoltaics and get a better sense where to invest my passion in energy. I hope to apply my engineering knowledge in the field of energy where I believe, lies the core obstacle for developing countries, like my home country Sudan, to reach their full economic potential.

Mohammed Yassen | Bangkok, Thailand

Hi! My name's David Akinyoyenu, I'm from Bethesda, MD, and I'm a 6-14 (Computer Science, Data Science, and Economics). While I'm from the DC metro area, I still cling to my Nigerian roots through food, music, and learning the Yoruba Language at Harvard. I enjoy squash, chess, and movies with friends. Professionally, I'm interested in entrepreneurship, consulting, and data science. I hope to connect with the brotherhood and make the most of my time at MIT!

David Akinyoyenu | Bethesda, MD

"For who is God, except the Lord? / and who is a rock, except our God?" Where would we be had it not been for His grace?"

Will Bland | Virginia Beach, VA

What’s up! I’m Julian Harrison, born and raised in Los Angeles, California. I’m interested in 15-2/15-3, hoping to enter investment banking or consulting post-graduate. The end goal is to provide financial resources to low-income communities affordably.

Outside of school, I enjoy spending time outdoors (this might have to change considering it isn’t 80 degrees all the time on the east coast), exploring cities with friends, listening to music, and playing sports. Just about anything really. I was raised into car culture and am interested in pretty much everything you can do to them from working on them to racing them.

Looking forward to CC and the experiences I’ll have here at MIT.

Julian Harrison | Los Angeles, CA
